New in Fuquay: Baucom Business Plaza Brings Storage, Coffee & BBQ to Hwy 401

WELCOME TO BAUCOM BUSINESS PLAZA

If you’ve driven down Hwy 401 lately, you may have noticed a fresh new addition popping up – and trust us, it’s more than just storage. Baucom Business Plaza is a brand-new, veteran-owned storage facility right outside of downtown Fuquay-Varina, and it’s quickly becoming a little community hub of its own.

Conveniently located just minutes from Fuquay and an easy drive from Angier, Lillington, Willow Spring, and Holly Springs, Baucom Business Plaza is designed to make life easier – whether you’re a homeowner, business owner, or just need a little extra space.

Modern, Clean & Built for Real Life

Baucom Business Plaza offers:

From household items and seasonal décor to business equipment and vehicles, their units are designed to fit real needs – all without the stress. The team prides themselves on customer satisfaction and professional service, making storage one less thing to worry about.

And did we mention…they’re veteran-owned? We love supporting businesses that serve our community in more ways than one.

More Than Storage: Meet the Food Trucks on Site

One of the coolest parts about Baucom Business Plaza? It’s not just functional – it’s fun. Right on the plaza grounds, you’ll find two local food trucks that make this spot worth visiting even if you don’t need storage (yet 👀).

STEAKTION – Barrel-Smoked BBQ with a Twist

Steaktion is bringing something totally unique to the Fuquay area with their Colombian barrel-style cooking. They slow-smoke their meats inside custom barrels, creating tender, juicy cuts with deep, smoky flavor…cue the mouth watering 🤤

Expect crave-worthy favorites like:

  • Crunchy, flavorful pork belly

  • Their iconic Pork Belly Ceviche

  • Bullfries

  • Cowboy Corn

  • Burgers

  • Signature barrel-smoked meats

Every dish is made fresh, with high-quality ingredients and serious attention to detail. They describe it best: comfort food with a twist. And yes…it’s as good as it sounds.

Even better? Steaktion is family-run, and you can feel the love in everything they do. They’re here to share good food, good moments, and a taste of something different, and we’re so here for it.

SIPSIDE COFFEE BAR – Be Lifted. Stay Grounded.

Right alongside Steaktion, you’ll find SipSide Coffee Bar, a coffee trailer rooted in faith, community, and really good coffee. The trailer itself was designed and built by Aerobuild Customs in Nashville, TN, and it’s just as beautiful as it is functional.

SipSide is now owned by Emma Wood, who comes from a long line of entrepreneurs with a heart for people and community. Her mission is simple and powerful:

To share the love of God through friendly service and quality products.

SipSide partners with Oak City Coffee Roasters, who use a portion of their profits to provide opportunities for people around the world to lead meaningful, productive lives – so every cup truly gives back.

Plus…Bottled Lattes & Fresh Scones? Yes, Please.

As if their made-to-order coffee wasn’t enough, SipSide also offers bottled lattes, the same handcrafted quality you love from the trailer, now bottled and ready to enjoy anytime. Whether you’re stocking your fridge for the week, hosting a party, planning a corporate event, or just want a quick grab-and-go treat, these bottled lattes make coffee moments even easier (and more delicious).

And because no coffee moment is complete without something savory and/or sweet, SipSide also offers scones, making it the perfect stop for a cozy treat, mid-morning pick-me-up, or casual meet-up with a friend.

HOURS | MONDAY – FRIDAY | 7am – 1pm

They’re Already Making It a Community Hub

Even Better? It’s Cozy All Winter Long

And because they truly thought of everything, their seating area is now fully enclosed with a tent so you can stay warm while enjoying SipSide Coffee Bar and Steaktion during these chilly days.
Warm drinks, hot food, community tables, and winter-friendly vibes = elite combo.

Monthly Markets Coming Soon 👀

As if storage, BBQ, and coffee weren’t enough…Baucom Business Plaza will also be hosting vendor markets throughout the year, with plans for at least one market per month featuring multiple local vendors.

SPOOK-quay Varina: Tales That Haunt Our Hometown

When the leaves turn crisp and the evenings grow long, Fuquay-Varina comes alive with more than just pumpkin spice and fall festivals. Beneath our small-town charm lies a haunted history, one that locals and visitors alike can experience through spine-tingling stories, eerie legends, and ghostly encounters that have been passed down for generations.

📖 A Book of Local Hauntings

Local authors Liz Pardue and Kelly Prestipino captured this history in their book Fuquay-Varina Ghosts: Legends and Lore. Inside, you’ll find chilling tales of Fuquay’s past, from mysterious figures lingering by the mineral spring to tragic histories of townsfolk whose stories never truly ended. It’s a deep dive into why Fuquay-Varina has earned the reputation of being one of the “Most Haunted Small Towns in the South.”

Led by passionate storytellers (and the lively Spook-quay Players), the one-hour walking tours wind less than a mile through downtown, bringing history to life with a mix of mystery, lore, and bone-chilling accounts of Fuquay’s past.

💀 New stories and fresh frights for 2025 mean even if you’ve gone before, you’ll want to return for more!

BUT THE SCARES DON’T STOP THERE…

🌲 The Haunted Trail at Carroll Howard Park

If ghost tours through downtown aren’t enough to get your heart racing, Fuquay-Varina Parks & Rec has you covered with their annual Haunted Trail, a frightful adventure tucked away in the woods of Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park.

This year’s Haunted Trail takes place on Saturday, October 18, with two unique ways to experience the scares: GET YOUR TICKETS HERE

🎃 Family Trail

  • 5:00 – 6:00 pm

  • A lighthearted, sun-lit stroll perfect for little ones and families. Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes and interact with friendly characters along the way, making it more fun than frightening.

💀 Full Fright

  • 7:00 – 9:00 pm

  • Once the sun sets, the trail transforms into a dark, terrifying walk through the woods, filled with unexpected scares at every turn. This version is not recommended for children under 10, and kids ages 10-12 should be accompanied by an adult.

🚍 Parking & Getting There

Though the event is hosted at Carroll Howard Park, parking is available at the Fuquay-Varina Community Center. A shuttle will transport attendees to the event, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can walk the Jeff Wells Trail to reach Carroll Howard Park. (Flashlights highly recommended for those choosing the walk-in option!)

🎃 October in Fuquay: Where Small-Town Charm Meets Spooky Thrills

From eerie legends on downtown’s ghostly streets to bone-chilling surprises in the woods, Fuquay-Varina knows how to celebrate spooky season in style. Whether you’re paging through Fuquay-Varina Ghosts: Legends and Lore, braving the annual Ghost Tour, or daring to enter the Haunted Trail, you’ll find that our town’s haunted history and community spirit go hand in hand. So grab your flashlight, your bravest friends, and maybe even a costume, because October in Fuquay is more than just pumpkins and candy. It’s about experiencing the stories, scares, and small-town magic that make our community hauntingly unforgettable.

  • Specialty baked goods & nostalgic candy 🍭

  • A cozy gathering space with books to enjoy while you linger

  • And…every dog’s dream: The Barkery 🦴

Tucked in the back, the Barkery is stocked with locally made Pawsitively Delicious Treats, plenty of toys, and even café tables so you and your pup can relax together. Pets are not only welcome, they’re encouraged.

PAWSITIVELY DELICIOUS TREATS: Made with Love & Purpose

Pawsitively Delicious Treats is a woman- and veteran-owned small business right here in Fuquay-Varina, crafting all-natural, handmade dog treats using fresh, real ingredients like pumpkin purée, whole‑wheat flour, peanut butter, and more for healthy, tail-wagging goodness.

But it doesn’t stop at the kitchen! Pawsitively Delicious also brings the fun!
They carry a wide range of toys for both dogs and cats,
from chew toys and squeakers that keep pups busy for hours to interactive cat wands, play balls, and even “fish bowls” that challenge your furry friends in the most entertaining ways. It’s the perfect one-stop shop for healthy treats and happy play.

Beyond their tasty treats, they’re deeply community-minded. Every purchase supports local entrepreneurs and, by extension, our local economy. Plus, they have an active news and events section on their website, sharing heartwarming rescue stories like “Soleia’s Journey: From Survivor to Snuggle Princess” and adoption spotlights like Sweetie, Strong, Spirited, and Searching for Her Forever.

Why We’re All About It

At Front Porch Realty, our roots are all about home, community, and belonging. That’s why we adore local gems like Gracy & Co., where every customer strolls in and stays awhile, and businesses like Pawsitively Delicious Treats, where every treat bought makes both pup wags and local rescues happier.
