Next up on our Parks & Rec Month highlights, one of Fuquay-Varina’s oldest parks, Falcon Park, sits on 5 acres of multi-purpose land. Back in the day, the population was little so there were no family gathering places which meant no place for kids to gather outside and play. Town residents took action in the 1950’s by organizing and raising enough money to fund the towns first park, Falcon Park, opening in 1953! Since opening, Falcon Park has received numerous updates including the most recent a few years back which gave much-needed new life to the playground and the buildings at Falcon Park.

Run the Quay is in its 15th year!

Are you ready to Run the Quay? Yes, it’s true this Chamber of Commerce sponsored Annual event has been going on every year for the last 15 years, it’s a tradition! How about the brand new Downtown Cooldown, happening at the same time in downtown Varina? Well, here’s all the info you need to get ready! The Chamber is anticipating over 1,000 runners this year! Check out the race routes, and come out to cheer on your favorite brave runners! Then, head on over to Varina to Celebrate. There will be something for everyone at this FREE family friendly event including food trucks galore, Live music, kids activities like a bounce house, Fhairy Sparkles Hair, yard games, and even the Stormy Mascot from the Carolina Hurricanes! 6th Annual Fuquay-Varina Commercial Bus Tour

What an awesome event the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce sponsors every year! About 30 real estate brokers, developers, builders, investors and town officials boarded a bus on November 15th from the Fuquay-Varina Community Center to venture out into our quaint, booming, and sprawling suburb of Fuquay-Varina. We saw existing buildings and raw land for sale. We also heard about exciting new projects under way, re-habbing existing historical buildings as well as large new construction projects! All exciting news for our little neck of the woods. Click this link to see all the plans. We even got to tour our new state-of-the art Public Works Facility and enjoy lunch provided by Wake Tech’s Culinary Arts restaurant Flavors.

Wake-up Fuquay!

FRONT PORCH REALTY was able to attend the monthly F-V Chamber of Commerce “WAKE-UP Fuquay!” breakfast meeting last week. What a great way to learn about all that our Chamber does for us and our community. I knew that Wake Tech was growing, but did you know that they offer LOADS of FREE seminars for the general public and businesses? A Wake Tech representative was at the breakfast to tell us about a sampling of the free seminars including topics like Linkedin, IRS business organization, Quickbooks, and attracting more clients. See their Summer schedule here. We were also brought up to date on their newest Morrisville campus set to open soon.

Fuquay Varina Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet 2015

FRONT PORCH REALTY recently attended this popular F-V Business Community event held this year at Bentwinds Golf & Country Club. Besides enjoying great networking opportunities and plenty of food, a surprise tribute was made to our beloved police chief, Larry Smith, who will be retiring March 31, 2015 after 10 years of service to Fuquay Varina. Chief Smith has been instrumental in Fuquay, integrating all parts of our community, especially various children and teen programs like the Police Explorer Program. This program provides teens an introduction to law enforcement careers and the highly successful Teen Day Fuquay, a distracted driving program targeted at Fuquay-Varina teenagers. Wow, we will miss him!

Dynamic Sports and Fitness Club in Fuquay Varina

Front Porch Realty learned lots of exciting news while attending CLUBWORX Fitness Club FV Chamber Business After Hours meeting last evening. Not only does Clubworx offer all of the fitness equipment, training and classes you could ever desire in addition to a full size basketball court and indoor and outdoor pools; They are getting ready to add a huge addition of a Crossfit center! My family has been a member, as well as Front Porch Realty as a corporate member, of Clubworx since they were located in the “old downtown Cooley’s building”. How wonderful and exciting to see Clubworx grow as Fuquay grows and support this family friendly facility!
