Fuquay-Varina Independence Day Celebration

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Where? South Park When? Saturday, July 1st, gates open at 6pm Who? Your friends & family! Please leave dogs at home!
The Town of Fuquay invites you and your friends and family to come out to South Park to enjoy an evening of celebration! Enjoy live music featuring Spare Change (starting at 6:30pm), the Splash Pad will be open from 6pm-8pm, food trucks on site all evening, and fireworks starting at sundown (typically 9:15, weather permitting). Coolers are allowed however this is an alcohol free event. Head over at 6pm with your chairs & blankets to be sure you grab a good spot to view the fireworks! We can’t wait to celebrate with our community!

South park : 820 S. Main st, fuquay-varina parking : community center, jones st via south main, or just a short walk from downtown Fuquay!

Flags for Heroes

FLAGS FOR HEROES  May 22nd – June 14th 201 N. Main St Fuquay-Varina, NC

It’s hard not to notice the beautiful Red, White, and Blue blowing in the breeze as your driving down Main St as you pass by the Chamber building. Fuquay-Varina continues it’s “Flags for Heroes” tradition put on by the Rotary Club of Fuquay. Recognize someone whose served your family, your community, or your country by sponsoring a flag in memory or in honor of. To sponsor a flag and recognize a hero in your life visit THIS LINK for more information. Your sponsorship will include a 3′ x 5′ American Flag displayed on a 10′ flag pole. May 29th : Memorial Day Ceremony at 10am Join the Rotary Club as they recognize all of our military veterans who lost their lives as a result of service to their country.
June 14th : Closing Ceremony at 12pm Join the Rotary Club as each hero’s name is called. Your presence shows our hero’s and their families how much you appreciate their service.

Aloha Safari Park

Did you know that just a short drive from Fuquay-Varina there is a whole other world to visit?! No seriously, a SAFARI, just a short drive from our town! Check out Aloha Safari park for the perfect way to spend a beautiful day outdoors. Aloha Safari Park is located in Cameron, NC and is open for the season and ready for YOU to visit their variety of different animals including tigers, zebras, monkeys, lemurs, and more!

“Things to Do- The Aloha Safari Zoo has so many exciting things to see. ​Listed below are some things you should definitely check out during your visit! Stop by our goat and pig field near the zoo entrance to feed our livestock animals some treats that you can purchase at the front entrance. Remember, we ask that you don’t feed the horses or giraffe any food from the feed bag. Head to the Giraffe House to feed Titus the giraffe some snacks! Make sure to keep hats, sunglasses, cell phones, cameras, and umbrellas out of his reach! He likes to take souvenirs from visitors as well! (Opening March 18th) Take a ride through the drive through section of our park to see some of our larger hoof stock animals! They come right up to your vehicle, and you can pet and feed most of them! You will see and feed animals such as bison, zebra, ostriches, antelope, donkeys, llamas, water buffalo, camels, and even some animals you’ve never heard of! Tour our upper section of animals by foot by following the paved walkways! You will come face to face with tigers, lemurs, wolves, monkeys, and other exotic animals! Head to the Reptile Room to see some of our exotic reptiles such as bearded dragons, ball pythons, and Burmese pythons! Head through our indoor animal area of our main building to see exotic birds, iguanas and more! If you have any questions on any of the animals that you see on your visit or on the facility itself, be sure to find someone in a “Zoo Staff” T-Shirt and they will be happy to answer your questions! Stop by the Gift Shop at the entrance to pick up stuffed animals, t-shirts, and other souvenirs at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of your tour! It’s at the main entrance to the zoo! There are cold drinks and snacks as well.”

The StoryWalk at Alston Ridge Park

STORYWALK AT ALSTON RIDGE PARK

2023 is known as the Year of the Trail, lucky for you Fuquay-Varina has numerous trails for you to enjoy all year long! The newest interactive addition is presented by the Fuquay-Varina Junior Woman’s Club and is a project created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library; Introducing Storywalk at Alston Ridge Park. Opening to the public recently in Alston Ridge Park, Storywalk is an innovative and immersive way for children (and adults) to get out and enjoy the outdoors while you follow along a children’s storybook. Laminated pages from a children’s story book will be attached to wooden stakes along the pathway for you and your children to read along with as you enjoy the paved pathway. The children’s book will be switched out every 3-months for your enjoyment so be sure to check back for new stories!

Fuquay-Varina Christmas Home Home Tour

Presented by the Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club, enjoy eleven homes beautifully decked out in Christmas decor! The tour will take place on Saturday, December 3rd starting at 12:00pm and ending at 6:00pm. You may buy your tickets the day of the event at The Mineral Springs Inn or 313 S. Fuquay Ave.

Inner Beast Hatchet House

Fuquay-Varina is filling up with all sorts of fun activities for date night out, family night out, team building outings, etc. The newest addition to activity based venues that are popping up is family-owned Inner Beast Hatchet House. The newest axe throwing spot is right here in wonderful downtown Fuquay near shopping, food, and breweries. What all should you expect at Inner Beast Hatchet House? TONS of excitement, that is for sure! They offer projection based games for throwing your axe at such as Zombie Shootout, Tic-Tac-Toe, Cornhole, and so many more! Never thrown an axe before? Not to worry, they have AXEperts that will check you in and demonstrate the safe and proper way to throw your axe. If you need to quench your hunger or thirst during this time, not to worry! Inner Beast Hatchet House offers canned beer, water, and snacks! When you go to their website to sign up for a time-slot, ensure you properly fill out your waiver before you head over there! You may book either a 60 minute slot or a 90 minute slot, this will be timed for you while you are throwing. They also offer bigger party bookings such as birthdays, work social events, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc. Be sure to check them out, YOU DO NOT want to miss this new fun edition to Fuquay-Varina.

North Carolina State Fair

Growing up in North Carolina is a unique and wonderful experience, ask anyone. From the Blue Ridge Mountains to the crystal coast beaches you have the best of both worlds. Right in the middle of it all is the State capital, Raleigh which is just outside of our town of Fuquay-Varina.

One thing North Carolina is big on is tradition. Every year the North Carolina State Fair is held in Raleigh at the Fairgrounds. Crowds gather at the fair grounds to enjoy rides, food, free entertainment, and plenty more. Last year was an unprecedented time for everyone and unfortunately the State Fair could not be held as usual. They did find a way to continue the tradition by offering a small variety of the usual fair food vendors but it was nothing like we are used to. This year the N.C. State Fair is back and better than ever!

 

The 2021 N.C. State Fair will be held from Oct. 14 – Oct. 24, tickets are on sale now, click here! Whether you are a thrill seeker or a teacup rider or just enjoy eating copious amounts of food it is a fun-for-all-ages event! With over 90 rides this year including tons of new ones, NEW FOOD VENDORS, and tons more, don’t miss the fun in 2021!
