Stop by our goat and pig field near the zoo entrance to feed our livestock animals some treats that you can purchase at the front entrance. Remember, we ask that you don’t feed the horses or giraffe any food from the feed bag. Head to the Giraffe House to feed Titus the giraffe some snacks! Make sure to keep hats, sunglasses, cell phones, cameras, and umbrellas out of his reach! He likes to take souvenirs from visitors as well! (Opening March 18th) Take a ride through the drive through section of our park to see some of our larger hoof stock animals! They come right up to your vehicle, and you can pet and feed most of them! You will see and feed animals such as bison, zebra, ostriches, antelope, donkeys, llamas, water buffalo, camels, and even some animals you’ve never heard of! Tour our upper section of animals by foot by following the paved walkways! You will come face to face with tigers, lemurs, wolves, monkeys, and other exotic animals! Head to the Reptile Room to see some of our exotic reptiles such as bearded dragons, ball pythons, and Burmese pythons! Head through our indoor animal area of our main building to see exotic birds, iguanas and more! If you have any questions on any of the animals that you see on your visit or on the facility itself, be sure to find someone in a “Zoo Staff” T-Shirt and they will be happy to answer your questions! Stop by the Gift Shop at the entrance to pick up stuffed animals, t-shirts, and other souvenirs at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of your tour! It’s at the main entrance to the zoo! 2023 Spring Sellers Market Outlook

If You’re Thinking of Selling Your Home, Spring is the Perfect Time

Traditionally we have all heard; “Wait until the Spring to put your home on the market!” While Spring is a fine time to sell your home, what I have learned while selling homes in Fuquay-Varina for the last 30 years is there really isn’t a “bad” time to sell your home in the Triangle area of North Carolina!
Yes, Spring brings the school-minded families out hoping to get all settled in a new home before school starts but we all know Wake county doesn’t have a “traditional school calendar” and hasn’t for a very long time. Of course, LOTS of our transplants that are looking for homes in our area are coming from areas of the country where they only know the traditional school calendar of September to May. So, Spring makes a perfect time to sell your home.
Spring also entices us all to do our “Spring Cleaning” …does anyone else remember washing walls with a bucket and sponge and windows inside and out with a vinegar bottle and newspaper on their Spring Break?? After a good cleaning out from our winter months, putting your home on the market to sell is a great idea!
I have seen over the years that if someone is looking for a home in the winter months, they “have” to move and are very serious. We don’t have to worry, most years anyway, about moving in the snow or bitter cold but we know our “transplants” do! I have always told my owners that were thinking of putting their home on the market in the fall or winter but they want to “wait until Spring”, why wait until you have lots of competition out there? May as well sell when no one else is! It’s all about supply and demand!
Speaking of supply and demand, we are STILL seeing a shortage of homes in Fuquay-Varina and the surrounding areas. We just put a home on the market last Friday afternoon and received multiple offers before the weekend was up! Yes, the mortgage interest rates are going up, but rising rates are not stopping buyers needing a home in our area! Buyers know they can always refinance their home loans when the rates head downward again.
Front Porch Realty is the only LOCAL INDEPENDENT real estate company in Fuquay-Varina. We all eat, live, and play here and most of all we KNOW our Fuquay-Varina real estate market. We consistently have buyers from all over the country contacting us as they find us on Google and can quickly see we are the LOCAL leader of Fuquay-Varina. Our Schools Need Us!

Fuquay-Varina Bengal Proud!

I was recently asked to speak to a group of local Fuquay-Varina Middle and High School students as a business owner in the community.  I wanted to share my experiences, in hopes that more business members in our community would be inspired to volunteer. Each activity took me less than an hour.  I know that hour could lead to a big impact on these young adults as they begin to think about their future. As always, I know I got more out of it than they did! My friend, colleague, and educator, Mr. Rodney Jenkins, is the Career and Technical Education Coordinator for Fuquay-Varina Middle School. He recently approached me and asked if I would speak to his entrepreneurial class.  My topics included: why I started my own business, what’s involved with owning my own business, the hardest part, the easiest part and more.  I brought along my company’s advertising goodies like stadium cups and pens, and tossed some candy to the students that participated.  The students had awesome questions and provoked my own thoughts on why I do this. I was overjoyed to hear the students decided they are going to arrange a “field trip” to visit our office sometime soon.  I can’t wait to see them again! There are so many opportunities to get involved with students in Fuquay-Varina. I was also asked to address the first Fuquay-Varina Youth Leadership Group conference. This initiative is the first of its kind for Fuquay-Varina and the students selected to participate. I was asked to speak about Front Porch Realty’s application process and how I determine good candidates for our firm.

Laura Moody recently addressing both students and staff.

These bright, energetic high-schoolers had so many great questions for me!  They are eager to learn how to make a difference in our town and they are striving for greatness.  I commend the staff of Fuquay-Varina High school for working so diligently to start this leadership program and make a difference in these student’s lives. Imagine all the lucky businesses that get to hire these young folks someday! If you are interested in helping any of our community schools in ANY way please contact our office or join the FV Business Alliance. Our next meeting is coming up soon!

F-V Business Alliance Meeting Dates

No time to attend ANOTHER meeting every month? That’s alright! Please take 30 seconds to join the F-V Business Alliance as a Bengal Backer. Here you will sign up to receive emails detailing where you can donate your precious gift of time, or money. No experience is necessary, and most volunteer needs are only about 30 minutes.  Some examples of what’s needed are having a mock interview with students preparing for a competition, hosting a car wash for a fundraiser, or donating food for an event. Of course, we would LOVE to have you at our next meeting, December 15, 8:30 am at FVHS. I promise, you will be even more rewarded than the students!
