“Front Porch Give Back, A Community of Giving Back”

We have spent a lot of hard work on making this dream turn into reality here at Front Porch Realty. Front Porch Give Back, once just an amazing idea in Laura’s mind, once just a bunch of boxes filled with unused household supplies, once just a basement to store supplies for the business…now a place for those in need to come shop free of charge for household items.

What can you donate? Kitchen tables & chairs, coffee tables & end tables, working lamps, dressers & nightstands, small working kitchen appliances (toasters, coffee pots, microwaves, blenders, etc.), dishes, cutlery, pots & pans, glasses, gift cards, light bulbs, cleaning supplies.

Where can you donate? You may drop off at our office anytime during business hours; Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm located at 604 N. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC.

I asked Laura Moody a few questions regarding Front Porch Give Back –
1. Where did the idea come from?

“I have always wanted to “give-back” to the youth of my community as I am an adoptee myself.  My twin brother and I (as well as our older adopted brother) could have easily grown up in foster care if we had not been adopted into a loving home.  When young adults age out of our Wake county foster care system they are set up in an apartment and given only a bed and an alarm clock.

We wanted a way to be able to connect the unwanted household items of our sellers with the needs of our community’s young adults and families.  Our recipients are by referral only from our local schools, churches and anyone else wanting to help.”

2. What is a long term goal with FPGB?
“My long term goal is to keep a fully stocked office basement full of furniture and household goods so that anyone that needs help can receive it.  I would also love to have it stocked with basic cleaning supplies and other household needs a lot of us take for granted;  new sheet sets/towels, batteries, lightbulbs, flashlights, etc.”
3. How are you getting the word out?
“We are getting the word out with social media but would also love to be able to put our brochure out at other local Fuquay-Varina businesses.  We do want donors to realize we are not a “thrift shop”, we are only asking for what is listed in our post.  Recipients “shop” our household goods free of charge.”
4. Anything extra we should know about Front Porch Give Back?
“Drop off at our office Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm!”

Located at 121 Raleigh St. in Downtown Fuquay-Varina you will come across a quaint little store that holds not only a Family Optical, but also possibly the cutest gift shop around! Wild Hare Gifts consists of high-end, quality, unique, hand-made gifts and home décor. What’s even better than one cute, unique gift shop? TWO unique gift shops! For All Things Southern is another gift shop located inside the Family Optical that offers high-end, locally and regionally sourced gifts along with some beautiful vintage goodies.

When you arrive at Wild Hare Gifts, you are greeted with full smiles and OUTSTANDING customer service. The store is set up perfectly, just the right amount of space with tons of fun things to look at I will be honest, your eye could wander for days! They have all local and regional products marked with a label that says “Made In NC” for easier findings. They keep us up-to-date with their seasons; fall time equals tons of pumpkins, apple scented candles, and some fun fall-time treats! I cannot wait to visit during Christmas time, I can only imagine how majestic the store will be decorated.

One of the coolest things I ran across while inside the store browsing was coffee roast from 321 Coffee. 321 Coffee was founded by a group of NC State students who had a passion for creating employment for adults with IDD. From pop-ups at the student union serving Starbucks coffee to now running a coffee shop at the NC Farmer’s Market, they employ over 30 adults! This is SUCH an awesome cause and so glad to be able to support 321 Coffee at Wild Hare Gifts.

It’s no wonder our sales prices are soaring, at this time there are only 124 homes active on the market in Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs. This includes our Coming Soon status! Wake county Register of Deeds just reported our median sales price jumped a whopping 25% in September to $390,000. In our SW Wake market; median days on market is 4, and median sales price to list price is $110%. There are currently no new construction single family homes under $400,000 being built in our area of the county, all are attached townhomes or condos and are being sold as they barely break ground.

Front Porch Realty just finished the numbers for our Q3 Market Update and we had to check all them twice. We are at SUCH a low inventory it is getting scary, no pun intended I promise! I am sure you have a heard a little buzz of our housing market beginning to “catch up” a little, well not here locally in Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs.

View our Q3 MARKET UPDATE HERE.

How long is this going to last, and can our re-sale homes get any higher priced?
Good question! I do think our prices will continue their swift upward trend, however I do believe they will slow somewhat. Did we ever think our homes would be selling $10,000-$100,000 over list price regardless of appraised value?

FRONT PORCH REALTY offers the residents of Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs a LOCAL professional real estate firm to handle their real estate transactions. We love moving our residents into, and across town, and showing off all these towns have to offer.

Fuquay-Varina’s very own indoor Biergarten with southern hospitality! The owners, Mike and Anne moved to the area in 2017 and surely enough agree it is the BEST decision they have ever made. They opened TCB with much knowledge in brewing their own beer and running a similar spot prior. Inside you will find plenty of games, beautiful seating areas with low-lighting, coolers full of all types of beers and in case you get a craving for something salty, they offer a gigantic Bavarian pretzel, YUM! The Biergarten will often have local food trucks so be sure to follow their social media pages to see when your favorite will be visiting!

TCB is passionate about being dog-friendly! Bring in your pup and enjoy the surroundings. We support local K-9 rescues and are dedicated to providing a safe and unique experience for our “fur-baby” patrons, inside and outside of our venue. In fact, we even have a selection of “beers” & treats crafted for our four-legged friends.”

They also have a special donation box for any extra doggie supplies! Follow RoarNC for more information, they also have a Facebook page!
